Forest Faddle
We're in print! The Forester newspaper, 23rd October, had this to say about our gig at at the Forest Faddle in Coleford.
This year's special guests from over the border were The Buskuleles of Usk. Led by John Scannell the 20 Buskuleles proved so popular that the audience was reluctant to let them finish. Part of the Dean Forest Voice organising team, Lynn Morgan said: " It was absolutely fantastic, really good toe tapping stuff."

Buskuleles in the Bar
There are a number of great things about being a Buskulele.
Making music with friends, striving to continuously improve, entertaining in the community and raising money for charity to name a few.
Our April gig in the bar of The Grange (Usk Cons Club) helped us raise £380 for our chosen charity - Children's Wales Air Ambulance.

The Buskuleles of Usk Third Birthday
The Buskuleles celebrated their 3rd birthday this month. John was delighted to cut the ukulele shaped cake, Carol had made for us, in our rehearsal break this evening. It is amazing to think that most of the band had little or no musical instrument or performance experience before joining the band. With John's patience and enthusiasm we have all come a long way.
The twice weekly rehearsals are full of fun and friendship and although many of the band still get nervous before a performance watching the audience sing and dance to the music we make is so rewarding the nerves usually disappear after the first couple of songs!

Rehearsals
The Buskuleles practise twice a week, Mondays at The Conservative Club, Usk and Thursdays at The Glascoed Pub, Monkswood. If we are rehearsing for a gig we will have a shortlist of songs to run through for several weeks before deciding which songs to include in the set. John will have thought about the type of gig and audience we are playing to before drawing up the initial shortlist.
If we don't have a gig on the horizon practise sessions are an opportunity to learn new songs. Learning a new song can be challenging in a number of ways, new chords, unusual phrasing or if you haven't heard the song before simly learning the tune!
We have some really talented band members who are always happy to share what they know and there are always impromptu 'tutorials' happening before we start and during our break.
